TAV is not salary or cap hit.
A player can carry a modest salary or cap hit while owning a much larger TAV because the acquiring team is buying performance, control, contract economics, scarcity and future value together.
PlayerTicker treats athletes as sports assets. We combine sport-specific performance evidence, future expectations, economics and crowd opinion to create a consistent framework for understanding what a player may be worth — and why.
TAV is PlayerTicker's proprietary estimate of a player's current value as a tradable league asset. It asks how much equivalent league asset capital a rational team would be expected to surrender to acquire that player today.
TAV expresses the player asset in a standardized dollar framework so value can be compared consistently across players and the league assets used in transactions.
TAV values the complete tradable player asset rather than treating current production, salary, age, or contract status as separate headline prices.
A player can carry a modest salary or cap hit while owning a much larger TAV because the acquiring team is buying performance, control, contract economics, scarcity and future value together.
TAV estimates acquisition-equivalent asset value. It is not a promise that a particular team will receive an identical package in an actual transaction.
The credibility of the framework comes from preserving point-in-time TAV snapshots and evaluating them against observed transactions as comparable evidence becomes available.
TAV asks, “What does PlayerTicker value this tradable asset at?” Ticker Value asks, “What does the PlayerTicker crowd value the same tradable asset at?” The difference is Market Divergence. PlayerTicker does not automatically force TAV toward crowd opinion; the disagreement is intentional.
Votes contribute to aggregated crowd sentiment. A single vote does not apply a fixed dollar change to Ticker Value.
PTVAI is PlayerTicker's proprietary Player Intelligence score. It summarizes sport-specific evidence into a compact signal. Player Intelligence, PTVAI, its public metrics, and evidence are available to everyone. It is an intelligence summary, not a direct forecast input or a substitute for the underlying evidence.
The Game Ledger framework translates sport-specific game performance into a common economic language. Ledger Contribution describes the economic value attributed to a particular appearance and can be positive or negative.
Expected ContributionThe game-level contribution PlayerTicker would reasonably expect using information available before the performance.
Performance SurplusThe amount by which the player generated more or less value than expected in that appearance.
Crowd perception can react immediately. TAV is designed to incorporate new evidence more deliberately. This separation creates one of PlayerTicker's most important signals: Ticker vs TAV.
Yes. TAV represents PlayerTicker's baseline tradable asset valuation. Roster construction, positional need, competitive window, contract structure and strategic fit can lead a specific team to value the same player differently.
Fit Premium is presented here as a methodology concept, not a claim that the feature is available on every product surface.
They share the same asset-value philosophy, but they do not use the same performance model. Each requires different event models, replacement levels, positional structures and evidence.
No model can establish one objectively correct price for a player. TAV is PlayerTicker's structured tradable asset estimate using evidence available at that time. Sample size, role changes, availability, age, league transitions and incomplete evidence may create additional uncertainty.
Where TAV confidence is shown in PlayerTicker, it describes the strength of the available evidence. It is not a probability, promise or guarantee that a valuation will be realized.
PlayerTicker uses available sports data and internally derived features to create proprietary performance, game-intelligence and valuation outputs.
Coverage and source availability may vary by sport, season and metric.
Raw sports data is transformed by PlayerTicker's own models into higher-level concepts such as Player Intelligence, Ledger Contribution and TAV.
